April 19 Information:

All divisions will run simultaneously. The tournament directors reserve the right to adjust or combine divisions if needed.

Venue: Cornerstone Christian School 197 Cornerstone Ln, Harrisonburg, VA 22802

8:00 - Check in is 8-8:30 ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK IN BEFORE 8:30.

8:40 - Info meeting starts at 8:40. At least one player from each team should attend this meeting to discuss rules and guidelines for the day.

9:00 - First serve will be at 9:00am. WE WILL START ON TIME.

10:30am - Boxed lunches are included in your entry fee! Includes a sandwich (turkey or ham sandwich from Crossroads Cafe), a cookie, chips, and a bottle of water. Lunches will arrive at 10:30, and will be available at the concession stand.

1:30pm(ish) - As pool play ends, there may be a natural break for the tournament directors to determine bracket seeding and playoff schedules. Please remain on site during this break. We will have a meeting with each division before they go into playoffs to discuss formatting.

4-5pm(ish) - Depending on how your team does, we anticipate the tournament to end around 4 or 5. That being said, your team could be done earlier or later than this.

Concessions will be available on site. Feel free to bring your own food and drinks. No alcohol is allowed on site.

Feel free to bring tents, umbrellas, and coolers.

There are restrooms and water fountains in the building.

The April 19th Tournament will be broken down into the following divisions and prices:

Mens Doubles AA and Womens Doubles AA (ages 15+) - Most Competitive EARLY REGISTRATION $32 per player ($64 per team) - After April 5th, $37 per player ($74 per team)

Mens Doubles A and Womens Doubles A (ages 15+) - More Competitive - EARLY REGISTRATION $32 per player ($64 per team) - After April 5th, $37 per player ($74 per team)

Mens Doubles BB/B and Womens Doubles BB/B (ages 15+) - New to Competitive Play- EARLY REGISTRATION $32 per player ($64 per team) - After April 5th, $37 per player ($74 per team)

Girls Juniors Quads (ages 13-18) - New to Competitive - EARLY REGISTRATION $22 per player ($88 per team) - After April 5th, $27 per player ($104 per team)

Tournament directors reserve the right to combine divisions if necessary depending on registrations.

***Exceptions can be made to the age restrictions if approved by the tournament directors.

It is generally a good guideline to play in the division that best matches the better player on your team.

TOURNAMENT RULES

-Our primary ball is the Wilson OPTX Beach Volleyball

-Athletes 13-18 years old are eligible to register for juniors divisions.

-Athletes 15+ years old are eligible to register for adult divisions.

-We will play rally scoring

-A block does NOT count as a touch

-Nothing open hand over the net will be considered legal (no matter the intentions - set or attack)

-No open hand receive on serve receive. Receiving a hard-driven ball with open hands will be considered legal. EXCEPTION: In juniors divisions, open hand receive will be permitted.

-We will play on a grass full court with no antennas (30ft x 30ft)

-Let serves will not be legal.

- Switch on 7’s in games to 21, switch on 5’s in games to 15

-No substitutions or replacements will be permitted - in the case of an injury, substitutions may be permitted at the discretion of the tournament director(s)

-Any purposeful forfeitures to improve playoff standing/rankings will not be permitted.

-All RoVo tournaments will start ON TIME. Due to limited timing for events, points will be deducted for teams who start later than scheduled. Each minute late will result in one point for the other team. If both teams are starting late, then points will be awarded to both teams. This includes the first game of the day starting right at 9am, and in between games if teams take longer than the allotted 10 minute warm-up window

Tournament Setup:

-Each division will be split into pools according to the number of teams in your division.

-Teams will ref and keep score for each other when assigned to do so according to the schedule for your pool.

-After pool play, each division will move into a single elimination bracket.

-Playoff seeding will be determined in the following order:

overall record - pool play wins and losses

head to head if applicable

points scored against - having fewer points scored against you will increase your standing

points scored - scoring more points than the other teams will increase your standing
